Youtube documentary: MO 70 Years in Perspective
Monday evening 23 January, Part One of the project entitled “Metropole Orkest: 70 Years in Perspective – Its Past, Present and Future” will be introduced on YouTube. The project’s objective is to provide a representative impression in sound and images of the development of the orchestra, its repertoire and the influence of its different chief- and guest conductors.
The entire project consists of 7 parts, each part representing a decade, and starts in the year 1945 when the orchestra was founded. Fred Dekker who is responsible for the project’s concept spent more than 800 hours listening to Metropole music from radio broadcasts, 78 RPMs, LPs, CDs) and watching the orchestra’s TV performances, DVDs, videos from the past 70 years. The 7th and for the time being last part will appear on YouTube some time around the second week of June 2017. An 8th part is being planned for 2018 covering the Metropole Orkest’s performances in 2016 and 2017.
Without the help and support of the following people this project would have never seen the light of day: Friederike Darius, Annie Tangberg, Dick Bakker, Jan Bastiani, Max Boeree, Pieter Hunfeld, Dirk Overeem, Jolien Plat, Paul Schooneman and Marvin Schruba.
