North Sea Jazz in Concert: Metropole Orkest & Friends
The NTR, North Sea Jazz Festival and Metropole Orkest unite to work on special concert that celebrates the diversity of North Sea Jazz. Especially fort his concert, Metropole Orkest, conducted by chief conductor Jules Buckley, will come together with the entire orchestra since the start of the corona lockdown. During this concert, the orchestra will play together with national and international artists who would have attended North Sea Jazz Fetsival this year. Among them are Gregory Porter, Ibrahim Maalouf, Benjamin Herman, Michelle David and Akwasi.
In 1986, Metropole Orkest took the stage of North Sea Jazz for the very first time. Since 2002, the orchestra has been continuously present at the festival. Over all these years, MO played with many great jazz and other musicians. To create the special North Sea Jazz feeling, even though the festival won’t take place, and to bring it to the audience, NTR, North Sea Jazz Festival and Metropole Orkest have created a wonderful line-up under the name ‘Metropole Orkest & Friends’.
Festival manager Jan Willem Luyken: “Even though we will miss the festival enormously, I’m extremely happy that we can create this concert together with the NTR, Metropole Orkest and some amazing artists. Many thanks to our sponsors without whom this would not have been possible. The fact that we can organize the concert gives us a huge energy boost”.
The concert will be broadcasted on Sunday July 12 at 7.20 pm (CET) on the Dutch tv channel NPO 2 and at the same time on different online platforms.
