Metropole Orkest & Anoushka Shankar nominated for Grammy
‘Between Us…’, the live album of Anoushka Shankar, Metropole Orkest, Manu Delago and Jules Buckley, is nominated for a Grammy Award. The album has a chance on winning the prestigious award in the category ‘Best Global Music Album’.
Het album ‘Between Us…’ was recorded during a short tour with Indian sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar in 2018. On the record you can hear Anoushka, Metropole Orkest, conducted by Jules Buckley and hang player Manu Delago. The great combination resulted in a unique album, on which everyone’s talent magically emerges. ‘Between Us…’ contains seven pieces, all written by Anoushka.
Just like Metropole Orkest, conductor Jules Buckley thinks the new nomination is great: “It’s a project that we’ve put a lot of love into,” said Buckley. “People from outside don’t always see these projects as something virtuoso or complex, but this one really is. Everyone in the orchestra has worked their asses off to hit the right notes, to perform at the highest artistic level.”
The Grammys will be presented in Los Angeles on February 5.
