On Sunday July 14, Metropole Orkest, Reinier Baas and Ben van Gelder will come to Ahoy in Rotterdam. Together they will give a concert during the North Sea Jazz Festival, this year in the ‘Amazon’.

During this concert, mainly new music from the album ‘Smash Hits’ will be played. Christian Elsässer, who also arranged some of the compositions that will be played, will conduct the orchestra this afternoon.

Guitarist Reinier Baas and saxophonist Ben van Gelder have a lot in common: they are both from musical families, graduated with a 10 from the conservatory in Amsterdam, studied in New York and are not only musician but also composer and bandleader.

Over the past years, Baas & van Gelder played together for over 150 times. In January 2016 they performed together with the Metropole Orkest twice. This collaboration was such a success that it was continued in 2017 during the Transition Festival in TivoliVredenburg. Now the orchestra and the two talented guys meet again in Rotterdam.
