In spring 2022, Metropole Orkest will dive into the jazz world together with four previous Boy Edgar Prijs winners. Saxophonist Benjamin Herman, guitarist Corrie van Binsbergen, pianist Jeroen van Vliet and Componist des Vaderlands/arranger/musician Martin Fondse will show their vision of jazz during the Dutch Jazz Jam. The Boy Edgar Prize originates in 1963 and is the most important Dutch award for jazz and improvised music. The four Boy Edgar Prijs winners share their passion for jazz music and will inspire each other this evening, each in their own way.
The four musicians have earned their spurs in Dutch jazz history and have shapes numerous projects as band leaders and initiators.
Presenter this evening is Winfried Baijens, who is not only a journalist but also a great jazz lover.
Martin Fondse received a commission from the Stichting Boy Edgar Prijs to write a composition. ‘Family Portrait’will be performed for the very first time during these concerts.
